A thrifty challenge!.....by Jessica

Isn't she lovely....

I hereby am putting all my thrifty sisters and girlfriends on the lookout for a chandelier that looks something like this! Of course I know that it won't be one of these pretty colors, but if anyone happens upon a chandy similiar shaped to this at a yard sale, thrift store, goodwill, or on the side of the road, Let me know! Even if it's ugly and brassy looking....a good coat of spray paint and we'll be in business!
I will bake cookies or something for whoever finds it:) Everyone loves cookies right!
Thanks Girlies!

(of course i'll pay for it too:)

  1. okay, i didn't see one that looked just like this, but today i was at the Lytton Springs SA and they had the most unusual glass pumpkin shaped chandelier and I held it for a while thinking that someone somewhere would want it. I'll try to find a pic of what it looked like.

  2. Thanks Jess! Anything cool that could be painted...I keep hearing about the Lytton Springs one, everyone finds things there but I don't know if i've ever been there!

  3. it's got a couple of stores and then a rummage area that's pretty grubby - you've got to dig around in these big bins just full of the most random things. while you're out and about thrifting would you keep your eyes out for any big bags of stainless flatware? not any with the colored handles, but completely stainless with the majority of what i need being forks. a good deal would be any bag where the pieces come out to less than .25 cents per piece. thanks ;)

  4. of course! I will keep my eyes peeled...I probably won't be out thrifting with a newborn anytime soon,,,I have to figure out how to get out of the house with two kids first...
but are you meaning the vintage looking flatware, with the engravings on them?

  5. oh yes i understand...there was an in between time in my life where i didn't thrift until my oldest was in kinder. no nothing fancy, just someone's old silverware (but not silver - just stainless flatware). It just needs to be in nice condition but not necessarily fancy. And maybe less than .25 cents a piece...i've been finding big bags where it looked like someone cleaned out their silverware drawer for $5 or so.

  6. Ok, so have you been to Garbage Reincarnation on Sebastopol Road? Its one of the sketchiest thrift stores I go to, but you can find some really cool things. Any-who I saw a chandelier like that but it was pretty big. If you go there they have them all the chandeliers hanging, but you should def check it out.
