2 months! By Jessica

Oh Baby Mattix,

Where has time gone? You are now two months old! At your two month check you weighed in at a whopping 14 pounds, and 23 1/2 inches long! I believe that would put you at the top of your class kiddo! You still love to eat, and now you definitely have the thigh chub to show for it...But we believe that the more rolls on a baby the better:)
These days you've become quite talkative, all kinds of coo's and ah's. It's oh so darling to watch you talk. Your kicking your legs and flailing your arms all over the place. Your enjoying your little crib mobile that we finally put up and your little baby gym. You've got quite the arm when you go to swing at the toys.
You follow your brother with your eyes all over the place, and your brother loves to entertain you, showing you his cars and toys that you someday will take from him and he will someday be hiding from you. We can't wait to see how you two grow and get along...but for now we are still enjoying you being little...
and just when we thought your nightime colic was getting better...It got a little worse. There is nothing sadder than holding you while you scream and not being able to fix it. Even if those screams only last 5 minutes at a time it feels like a lifetime!
We still don't get out of the house much these days, but if we do it usually involves neighborhood walks, and big 'bentures' (adventures) as Jax would say. There are always our more than once a week walk to FCG where your brother has to have a chocolate chip cookie, how can we say no when were getting our caffeine fix?
In other exciting news Auntie Lee's little girl arrived a day shy of you turning two months! Little Luxe Vienne! She's just perfect:)
When we were in the recovery room, just hours after you were born, I remember looking at the clock and telling your dad that you were already so many hours old...I said I didn't want to leave the hospital, which is an odd place to want to stay I know, but I said before you know if once we leave he's going to be 2 months old.
now look...
your two months old...
where
did
time
go?

Here are the photo's from your 2 month photo shoot!
To see how much you've grown look back at your 1 month shoot

We wanted to bring you home in the onsie you have on, but it was way to big!

We love you little guy:)

Baby and The Bump...by Jessica

Dear Baby Mattix,

You love to be held. Almost all the time you prefer to be in someone's arms...Which is just fine with us. We know that it won't always be like that..
No bouncy seat can entertain you for very long and fancy baby swings don't put you at ease for more than ten minutes at a time. Your happiest in the arms of anyone who is willing to snuggle you. And snuggly you are!
Today, we think you may have found your happy place...Right on top of Auntie Lee's baby belly...Too bad that adorable baby belly will be going away very soon as Lee's baby (otherwise known to most of us as "Baby Ducky") is about to make a debut, or at least were all hoping that ducky decides to make her debut sooner rather than later!

Maybe you and ducky were bonding... Or maybe you were telling her that you are the boss since your older:)
My boys seem to love their Petersen Girls:)

One Month

Dear Baby Mattix,
One month with you has gone by so fast!
We can't believe that just a month ago you were handed to us all swaddled up in your new born blanket and your head covered with your hospital hat, all 9 pounds 6.4 ounces wrapped up tight:)
We remember the first time your brother saw you, he was confused for awhile that you were out of the belly and still thought there was another baby brother in the belly. Now you love watching your brother play. He loves to help you with your paci and shhh you when you are upset.
Were sure that you are well over 10 pounds by now...You love to eat, all day long.
You love laying on your changing table and having your diaper changed.
Most of all you love to be held and snuggled. You are such a smiley boy.
We can't wait to watch you grow and change...
but for now,
please stay little for awhile longer:)
We
Love
you,
Little
Mattix

On a side note, if you've ever been pregnant...Isn't it funny how one month of pregnancy can seem like forever, but the first few months after the baby is born go by way too fast! It should be the other way around in my opinion!

A thrifty challenge!.....by Jessica

Isn't she lovely....

I hereby am putting all my thrifty sisters and girlfriends on the lookout for a chandelier that looks something like this! Of course I know that it won't be one of these pretty colors, but if anyone happens upon a chandy similiar shaped to this at a yard sale, thrift store, goodwill, or on the side of the road, Let me know! Even if it's ugly and brassy looking....a good coat of spray paint and we'll be in business!
I will bake cookies or something for whoever finds it:) Everyone loves cookies right!
Thanks Girlies!

(of course i'll pay for it too:)

The Stupid Corn

Here in sunny northern CA we share our space with many growing things. Grapes mostly, but also some lavender, apples, strawberries, and the occasional veggie.

We like it. Crops make quiet neighbors, they make the bees happy, and it sure beats having yet another strip mall as a view.

However... every year about this time, you would think we have never seen a green growing thing in our little suburban lives, because for some as yet unknown reason growing corn becomes a show stopper.
Each year a usually unobtrusive field along side Hwy 101 becomes the site for a pumpkin patch and corn maze. Today I spent 20 minutes in traffic to drive a span that should normally take less than 2 minutes so that everyone could take a good long gander at the corn.
  So here ya go.
Please take all the time you want looking at these pictures.
Observe that, yes, the corn is indeed tall, and my, yes, that is a whole lot of pumpkins. And no, even if you could see the maze pattern from the road, I'm pretty sure it won't help you traverse it later

Please take that time now, in the privacy of your own home. So that while we are on the freeway, we can all get to our destinations in a timely manner. Thanks!

Your fellow Nor Cal neighbor

The Boot that nearly made me cheat - by Jes

As some of you may know, either a) because you are doing it with me,
or  b) you've been hearing me complain about it:
I am in the middle of a "Don't buy anything New" month.
This idea was inspired by the girls over at The J Project and we did it once before, but that time we couldn't buy ANYTHING, not even toilet paper. We had to use the ads that came in the mail if we ran out.

Just kidding.
We could buy toiletries and food. But no clothes or household or project stuff. It was tough!

So this month I have way more wiggle room because I can still go thrifting. Which I have, happily.

BUT, last night I was working at Macys and *somehow* ended up in the shoe section to check out the boots. For future reference, of course.

I almost bought these. They are beautiful. They are on sale. They are on hold for me right now.
So, I'm thinking that making this post might somehow give me a little self control, since it makes me accountable to more than just the people I'm doing this challenge with.

Feel free to leave me inspiring "you can do it" messages.
Also, feel free to shame me in public if you see me in these boots before November 1.

Jes
