Delighted Momma...By Jessica

Good Morning!

I just thought I would share one of my favorite blogs with you this morning,
She's an Esthetician and every week she does a post on a new skin care tip! Masks and more!
She also comes up with really good easy recipes I can't wait to try this one, and this one. I love this one and have made it a couple times. And she's thrifty which I know most of you love. So she's always sharing her thrifty finds, and sometimes does giveaways on them.
So today she is doing a giveaway from Apothica, so head on over to her blog and enter to win!!
I have my eye on the pumpkin latte mask! yum! Makes me crave pumpkin pie with whip cream!

Have a good weekend:)

Random post....By Jessica

I've been having a really hard time posting anything lately. Mostly because I don't have anytime too. Between being overly exhausted and complying to the demands of a almost 3 year old I haven't had the time. Jax just wants me to play with him 24/7 and he would be a happy camper, which I would love to do, but then how do I clean the house? Anyone have any suggestions?
I can imagine this is only going to get harder...32 days and counting people!!!
Here is a couple random things.

Baby Carrier:

My lovely sisters got me the baby carrier and all the accessories to go with it for my shower....But the hub had his eye set on this Phil and Teds carrier for himself, that can also face the baby forward....He tested it out, and needless to say that was a hilarious sight! Were a huge fan of Phil and Teds around here!

We will give you a real review on this baby carrier once the baby actually uses it:)

Breakfast Smoothie:

Nothing really sounds good to me anymore, but I stumbled upon this recipe the other day on the Oh She Glows Blog and we gave it a try...Wow it taste like a milkshake! I don't measure many things exactly as told so I just threw it all in. Even Jax liked it, not as much as me but enough to get some veggies down him without too much of an argument.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond milk, or milk of choice
  • 1 ripe banana, preferably peeled + frozen
  • 2 handfuls organic spinach
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds OR 1 tbsp ground flax
  • 1 tbsp nut butter (here I used Dark Chocolate Almond Butter)
  • 1-3 Ice cubes

I just used regular almond butter, I can imagine chocolate almond butter would be way more amazing. Also the frozen banana makes it taste a lot better.

That's all for now folks! We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Typewriter and Faux Terrariums - By Jes

I have a baby shower coming up that I am hosting

AT MY HOUSE!
(I know, it's a big leap from having family over for dinner to hosting a real party, but go big or go home, right?)

So, I have been crafting my little fingers off, which I will happily share with you as soon as my panic inducing frenzy is over.

In the meantime,
I can show you 2 items that will be making an appearance at this baby shower.

1. Smith Corona Typewriter circa 1940

Those are my husbands hands, not mine. Sheesh.

2. Faux Terrarium in a Jar

I will also be attempting to make real terrariums.
Have no fear, I will take lots of pictures and will post the results, good or bad.
I'm open to tips or ideas if anyone has any...

Armstrong Woods - by Jes

So this is part 2 of my anniversary day,
but I love the pictures so much they deserve a post all their own.

So, without further ado, I present:
An afternoon in Armstrong Woods

Who knew leaves had a silver lining?

Um...Glenda?

I hope you enjoyed the photo tour, if you haven't been there, or haven't been in a while, go! It's lovely, and so quiet, and closer than you think!

Seven years ago, By Jessica

So we went to Rutherford Grill last night to celebrate. I think it's safe to say that we ate way to much, more than can fit in my very pregnant stomach area..
This has been one of our favorite places to eat around here since we got married.
Were not big on eating out, unless it's for real food, by that I mean In and Out, mexican or anything like that doesn't really count..We can only do that so often without feeling sick. I like home cooked much better! I'm definitely not opposed to eating out when I don't feel like cooking though:) Which these days is more than not.
We started out with grilled artichokes and olives at the bar and then we ordered dinner..(it was about an hour an 15 minute wait...)

It all uploaded backwards and I don't know how to fix that...

I had to have dessert, because anytime we treat ourselves to dinner I have to see the dessert menu, even if i'm too full I have to know what i'm missing... This is the key lime pie, said to be better than real florida key lime pie. Seth didn't believe that because he spent every winter in the keys growing up (spoiled brat)
But he had to admit it was really good!

My cheeseburger! That is one of my biggest cravings this pregnancy. So anytime I see cheeseburger I have to have it!

This thing was so gigantic I told hubby that I didn't think I could take a bite...I just stared at it for a few mins...He told me to eat it gracefully...does anyone know how to eat a cheeseburger gracefully?

Seth's tri tip which he devoured..

You can't go to this place without ordering their cornbread...AMAZING, but if you like your cornbread dry, this is the wrong cornbread for you. It was almost too undercooked this time for us.

I don't know where seven years has gone so fast, but it's been amazing!

My Favorite Thrifted Thing for the week of 8/29/11

This week I had to choose 2 favorites because they are both awesome.

1.
 Vintage Cookie Jar $5.25

This is one of those items that just sang to me when I laid my eyes on it. I know it's funky, but visions of my children and grandchildren (or nieces and nephews as the case may be) begging me for cookies out of this jar flashed before me when I saw it.

2.
 Yellow Seychelles Heels $7.50

Don't worry folks, I lysoled these puppies up before I stuck my tootsies in there!

Until next time...

Happy Anniversary to Me! - By Jes

It's been 7 years since we got hitched
and here's what we did to celebrate.

Itinerary for Aug 22, 2011
(a few days late, our anniversary was on the
18th, but who's counting)

1. Breakfast at Howard's Station Cafe in Occidental
Humungous mocha with extra whipped cream?
Yes, please!

2. A trip to the Wildflour Bakery and Garden in Freestone

We were much too full to eat anything here but we bought a loaf of their Rosemary Garlic bread for later.

3. Local Color Gallery in Bodega

4. A drive up the coast

5. Antiquing in Duncan's Mill

I fell in love with a small cast iron dog at this store, but it was so expensive I couldn't bring myself to actually buy it.
The only thing that comforts me, is that it's so expensive no one else is going to buy it either, so if I ever decide I must have it, it will still be there.
I didn't take a picture of it either. I should have, then I could have tried to whittle it myself.

I did however buy a small ceramic owl at the shop below, which was so charming I wanted to live there.
(I didn't take a picture of the owl either)

We also went to Armstrong Woods
but this post is already really long so I'll post those pictures later!

Thanks for sharing my day!
